StartupMalaysia designed Global Startup Youth (GSY) that aims to bring passionate young activators, fire-starters, dreamers, hackers, hustlers and hipsters from around the world to huddle together for an intense period of 24-36 hours to come up with solutions for some of the world’s pressing problems. The program also provides an opportunity for the participants to network and build deep connections with entrepreneurs, startup mentors and youth leaders.

GSY made its debut as a side event at the 4th Global Entrepreneurship Summit held in Kuala Lumpur in October 2013 attended by 500 youth from 105 countries. They worked on 4 key issues listed under the UN’s Millennium Goals: Health, Education, Environment and Women’s Empowerment.

The second GSY was run as GSY ASEAN in conjunction with the 1 ASEAN Entrepreneurship Summit (1AES) in Kuala Lumpur from 19 -21 March 2015. 302 young leaders from ASEAN countries worked on problems for a greater and more vibrant ASEAN.
