Notable Programs

Coding@Schools is aimed at introducing and sensitizing primary school children between the ages of 10 to 12 into the world of computing and programming to encourage them to become creators and contributors to the Internet rather than mere consumers. The program is carried out as part of extra-curricular activities in the selected primary schools throughout the country.

Students learn to create basic website using HTML, CSS and JavaScript and learn to build an app using LiveCode. Each camp runs for 4 days in the school computer lab.

The culmination of Coding@Schools program is the National Code Challenge (NCC) where qualified teams compete at a national level and present their working prototype in a form of mobile app to the judges.

In 2016 StartupMalaysia directly trained 3,004 students from 100 schools and 6,071 students from 276 schools in 2017. The coding journey in Coding@Schools continues with other post-camp activities supported by StartupMalaysia via codingatschools portal.
