D-Code Camp is a program to help young people between the ages of 11 and 16 learn how to code through both online and classroom teaching.
In 2013 StartupMalaysia organized 24 coding camps involving 177 schools with 2,000 students nationwide. The Camp was an intensive 5 days and 4 nights’ fully residential training which started at 8:00am and ended at 10.00pm daily.
Participants learnt Web Fundamentals – HTML & CSS, jQuery, JavaScript and Fundamental of Python & Ruby. Contents were provided by Codecademy, USA.
13 teams were later selected to take part in an intense 4-day D-Code Innovation Bootcamp where they learnt to create apps and extensions for Google Chrome. 3 teams were announced winners and won a one week study visit to Silicon Valley in December 2013.
